What is AHFH?
Arkansas Hunters Feeding the Hungry
Arkansas Hunters Feeding the Hungry is a community-minded feeding ministry program providing venison to hungry Arkansans. Hunters, processors, churches, and feeding agencies work together to turn an abundant whitetail deer population into a renewable food source for those in need.
Venison is a low-fat, high-protein food source. An average whitetail deer provides around 200 meals — and with close to 200,000 deer harvested in Arkansas each year, hunters can make a real difference across the state.
How It Works
From Harvest to Hungry Families
Hunters donate deer, participating processors prepare the venison, and local feeding agencies distribute it to those who need it most.
1. Hunter Harvests Step 1
A hunter legally harvests a deer during Arkansas hunting season.
2. Drop Off Step 2
The hunter takes the deer to an AHFH participating processor.
3. Process Step 3
The processor debones the meat and packages it into small portions of deer burger.
4. Pick Up Step 4
The processor calls a local feeding agency, food bank, church, or similar organization for pick up.
5. Feed Families Step 5
The receiving agency feeds the hungry with nutritious, protein-rich venison.
